At the King’s Command: Embracing the Edict

MJOF-DevotionsPicture a lovely bowl sitting on a table, filled with chunks of Gala apples tossed in a crisp Waldorf salad.   Next to it sits a hot Granny apple pie waiting to be sliced.   Rich caramel coated Jonathan apples pierced with a stick and rolled in crushed peanuts line the counter next to the stove where a pan of blended Baldwin and Winesap apples simmers, filling the room with a mouthwatering aroma.

Chosen from the harvest for their strong core, seed, flesh, and stem, each different apple variety bursts with flavor and the combined results is a lavish banquet.   Just as God intended.

“So you must live as God’s obedient children.   Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires.   You didn’t know any better then.   But now you must be holy in everything you do,  just as God who chose you is holy.   For the Scriptures say,

“You must be holy because I am holy.” I Peter 1: 14-16

What’s under our skin?  Do our hearts pulsate in eager anticipation for God’s next move? Are our souls prioritizing him over everything?   Are our minds thinking of ways to expand the kingdom’s exposure?   Do we expel every ounce of strength pursuing him?

As a Christ-Follower, it’s my prayer that, with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength, I will want to contribute to the banquet God is planning.   I pray you will desire the same.
