Freedom in Jesus…three words that hold a multitude of meaning. Once you meet Jesus, the freedoms you experience are innumerable. One that has been on my mind, recently, is the freedom to dream. I’ve been thinking about it more than I ever have, so believe me when I say, that’s a LOT! You see, most of my life has been spent dreaming. When I was a kid, I would literally spend hours at a time just letting my mind create scenes that I hoped would someday come true…some were feasible, but others were just plain outrageous. I suppose it could be attributed to being the only child at home, which encouraged an active imagination, but I really believe the Lord just gives some of us more of the “dream genes” that He plans to use in our lives. The great thing is that, in Jesus, we have the freedom to simply believe in the dreams the Father has placed in our hearts!
“What Jesus Said”
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” ~ Mark 11: 22-24
The freedom that Jesus gives us to dream has a pretty solid foundation to build on; as Jesus plainly put it, “have faith in God”! So many dreams never get realized because people don’t have the faith to trust that the Lord can make them happen. I suppose we should acknowledge that not every dream does come true, but when God’s will and the dreams coincide, the chances certainly increase. I also think you just know when a dream is genuine, particularly when it becomes a “heart’s desire”. The point is that we must believe that God is able, and that if we believe, He’ll do it. If you know Jesus, you know you have the freedom to just take Him at His word!
