General Order #1
In the military you have your general order that takes precedent over everything else. The General order or Oath of allegiance for the military is to support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies both foreign and domestic. No matter what your other orders are while serving this is one that every military man or woman must do.
Likewise as Christians Jesus told us our General order in
Matthew 22: 37-39 “…you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind this is the first and great commandment and the second is like it you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Our very first order is to love God with everything we have. He created us to have a relationship with Him. He desires our love and wants to be first in our lives. He also wants us to love others as equally as we love ourselves. He wants us to have more than a head knowledge of who He is. He wants us to desire to spend time with Him just like we desire to spend time with our spouse or best friend.
He loves us so much that He gave His very life to pay our unpayable sin debt. You see we came into this world with a debt of sin that we could not repay. Only Jesus through shedding His blood on the cross could bring us into a relationship with the Father. He loved each of us enough to do that. He wants our love, devotion and obedience in return.
