God Gave Me a Spirit of Holy Boldness
2 Timothy 1: 7-9 – “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God who has saved us and called us to a holy life – not because of anything we have done. But because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.”
There was a lady in our church named, Alice. When Alice would see me in the hallway she would always stop me and pray for me. Not just at church – Kroger, Wal-Mart, anywhere she saw me. Alice told me that God had set me apart for a special ministry and He wanted her praying for me.
Alice was bold in her prayers. Only a person with a spirit of power would do what Alice did. At the end of each prayer Alice would always say, “Empower Betty to go forth in a holy boldness to do your work.”
I pray today that you will go forth with a holy boldness and share the love of Jesus with someone.
Lord – You did not give me a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power, love and self-discipline. I am not ashamed to tell other about you and how you saved me and called me a holy life. It was nothing that I did or could ever do – it was by your grace and the grace of Jesus from the beginning of time. Show me how to use this power for You.
