Look But Do Not See

Sometimes my husband will go to the kitchen cabinet looking to locate something he needs. Often he will stand and stare at each shelf searching with his eyes to find the needed item. Then in final desperation he calls for me to come and help. More often than not, the desired item can be found at eye level right in front of his eyes. It is as if he is surrounded in total darkness with eyes closed.

I will also admit that there have been times when this same thing happens to me. I search and search and then suddenly I realize the item I was looking for was right there in from of my eyes all along.

It’s the same with living through the darkest times of your life. Often you may think you are all alone. No one cares. No one is standing beside you. But that is not true. God promised He would never leave you or forsake you after all He is your creator. He knows you better than anyone else. During such times, God is closer to you than you think. He is always there loving you just the same. His love is not conditional. He loves you period. And while you may think God has forsaken you because He is allowing you to go through turbulent, tragic times of life, He is still there.

Psalm 31: 9  Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief.

Every tragic situation has purpose even if you never understand it or can not imagine what the reason might be. But regardless of the situation, the despair, the depression, yes even the hatred you feel for another, Almighty God loves you. Open your eyes and see His hand upon you.

Deuteronomy 31: 6  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Father, Thank You for who You are and what You have done. You are our Creator, Sustainer and Deliverer. And even if we cannot see You, You are there. You have promised that You will never leave us or forsake us and I know that You keep Your promises for You are God. Open my eyes to see where You are working in my life. May I feel Your presence today as You surround me with comfort. In Jesus Name, Amen.
