New Insight

Funny how finding an old journal written years ago brings back memories almost forgotten. Times of struggles and trials that brought me to where I am now were written down.  Journaling has been my habit over the years and has given encouragement to me through each step along the journey.  Why?  This was something I did for myself and God used journal writing to draw my soul and spirit closer to Himself.

Someone once said “you can’t see the forest for the trees” meaning you only focus on one tree seeing only what is in front of you instead of this great forest of beauty surrounding you. Life is like that.  While going through a struggle or trying times we don’t usually see the big picture because we are so intently focused on what we see directly in front of us at the time.  It’s so much easier to see the lessons I learned when looking back than being in the moment of the struggle.

I had not realized until much later in life how important it was for me to write down my thoughts. Now, I not only know its great value in seeing how God lead me through every phase of my life’s journey but it will also be a legacy I can leave for my children and grandchildren to know who I am and what and in whom I believe.

I wrote my thoughts and reflections, prayers, devotions and scripture verses each day.  And now, I am able to retrieve past thoughts and emotions by gleaning through the pages of events in my life and seeing the purpose it held along the way.  It is such a joy to see the fruit of where Father God was leading and where He has brought me at this point in my life.

Jeremiah 30:2  “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you.”

The times described at the beginning of this old journal brought to mind the reasons for where I am today and what God provided that laid the foundation of what was to follow in God’s plan for my life. He was teaching me back then leading me through time after time of struggles, trials, tears, laughter, joy and circumstances that would one day come to be “My Journey of Faith Ministries” and to author a book entitled Faith Joseph’s Story.

I encourage you, if you have not already began to journal write, please do so.  One day you too can go back and see where God had His hand in each situation, how He carried you through and how He loved you in the midst of the storm.  You will begin to understand His purpose and plan for your life as He taught you the life lessons you needed at the moment.

Journal Entry-8/15/2007

“This morning You have been teaching me once again about faith.  Hebrews 12: 2  “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.”  You are the One who began my faith within me before the world began.  And You are the One who is the finisher of my faith that will carry me into eternity.  Father, I hope my story of faith will bring joy to Your heart when I stand in Your presence in eternity.  I will finish in heaven…in your arms.”

Over the next few weeks, I want to share with you the beginnings of My Journey of Faith Ministries and how the Lord has used it to grow my faith.  Perhaps it will encourage you as well.  In the beginning of this new year, we will take a look back to see how God’s plan and purpose for this ministry was planned by God in the life of an unworthy and sometimes hesitant woman.  In the meantime, please take a look at the My Journey of Faith Ministries website:  myjourneyoffaith.com
