Running to His Arms

Galatians 2: 2 – I went in response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I preached among the Gentiles. But I did this privately to those who seemed to be leaders; for fear that I was running or had run my race in vain.” (NIV)

One of the greatest joys of being the parent of a child comes at the end of the day when you walk into the rooms and you hear “mommy” or “daddy” and that bundle of endless energy comes running toward you with a smile on their face and arms wide open in anticipation of the long awaited hug.

Regardless of how tiring or stressful my days had been this hug from my boys was always the best part of the day.

I owned a pre-school at one time and the afternoons were the best time of the day. I would watch tired and weary pre-schoolers as the pressed their faces against a window waiting for the first glimpse of their parent, who would be picking them up to take them home. I always enjoyed seeing the faces of the adults change from the tired, stressed frowns to the bright, smiling, loving faces when they heard their little one calling to them.

I cannot fathom the joy and love our Heavenly Father feels when one of His children runs through the gates of Heaven. He is standing there waiting with His arms wide open and a smile on His face as his child says “Abba Father, I’m home”.

If you are a child of God, he is at the gate waiting to great you and say “Welcome home, my child”. Oh to hear those priceless words and to see Jesus. How I long for that day.

Come quickly Lord!

“Oh, I’m running to your arms,

I’m running to your arms.

The riches of your love

Will always be enough.

Nothing compares to Your embrace

Light of the world forever reign.
