Connect with God

Connect with God

Connection is a warm word. It draws us together. It says we belong. It is relationship with love as the glue. We need connection. So does God. He Loved First Genesis 1 tells of the world that God created.  He created people in His image. Then He loved us first, despite our sins (I John [4:19]). While we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8), He gave His only Son as a blood sacrifice to pardon our sins and allow us entrance into heaven (John [3:16]). Now, He is in heaven preparing a place for us to live forever (John 14:2). …

John’s Doubt

John’s Doubt

Matt [3:17]  And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” I have been reading about John the Baptist lately.  He wasn’t Baptist he just baptized people in the river and therefore got the name.  He was the cousin of Jesus and was filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb.  This was not a natural occurrence then only prophets had the Spirit in them or on them prior to this.  He was a prophet and was a very outspoken man of God. John knew he had a mission …

A Revelation

A Revelation

Genesis 16: 1-5 “Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan. So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw …

Believe It or Not

Believe It or Not

Limp as a ragdoll and unable to move, I sat in my recliner and planned a bicycle ride. Myasthenia gravis robbed my strength and I was barely able to walk. Yet I believed God promised me one year of Sabbath rest, my personal Jubilee. So I planned a faith ride. On July 10, after exactly one year of severe physical limitations, I straddled my road bike, clipped in my shoes and pedaled seven miles. Are you believing God for things you can accomplish with sufficient effort and discipline? Or are you believing a big God who can do the impossible? …

Mind Control

Mind Control

Alice was bored and sleepy when she followed the white rabbit through a portal and traveled to strange places. We all have our rabbit holes, though not in Wonderland. Have you ever sat down to “check Facebook” or watch TV and suddenly hours have passed? Mindless activities can waste our time and influence our mind. It all started because she was bored and sleepy. Be alert! How I believe affects how I think and how I think affects how I believe. I must be intentional about the places my mind wanders. 1 Corinthians [2:16], “But we have the mind …

The Resurrected King

The Resurrected King

God’s story doesn’t end with the death of Jesus.  Jesus changed everything.  His death, burial, resurrection and ascension mark not the end of God’s story but the continuation of His divine plan for bringing His presence back on earth. God’s presence would reside again with man in the new heaven and new earth. His presence would reside within individuals who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. 1 Corinthians [6:19] “do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” …

The Lamb of God

The Lamb of God

John [1:29] “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” Genesis through Malachi speaks of God’s plan of salvation fulfilled in the New Testament with the birth of Jesus Christ the Messiah.  In the Old Testament, God has woven a scarlet thread throughout the pages of His Book to prepare the way for His coming. The true scarlet thread throughout the Bible is the blood of Jesus as a sacrifice for the atonement of sin. God provided a preview in the Old Testament to …

The Prophets

The Prophets

Luke [24:25]-27 “Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” 27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” Many prophets foretold the coming of the Messiah.  Included in this number are Samuel, Daniel, Ezekiel, Haggai, Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah, and Zechariah.  Each one accurately predicted His coming and described His life on earth as well as His death …

The Psalms

The Psalms

Luke [24:44]-45 “Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”  And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.” God’s complete plan for the salvation of man through the blood of Jesus Christ is written down and given to us piece by piece throughout Scripture until it was revealed in the New Testament through the birth of Jesus the Messiah. Psalms speaks of …

Shed Blood

Shed Blood

Hebrews [9:26]-29  “…He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.” God had created man in His image.  His very presence was shared with His creation as He communed with Adam and Eve in the beautiful Garden of Eden. But when Adam and Eve made the choice to disobey God (disobedience=sin), the residing …

God’s Divine Plan

God’s Divine Plan

2 Timothy 1:8b-9 (NKJV) “the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” 1 Peter [1:20] (NKJV) “He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you” Before the foundation of the earth was laid in place and before the heavens were created, God had a plan.  He designed this salvation plan for sinful man even before He created human beings.  …

The Cross-Mercy, Plan, Purpose and Grace

The Cross-Mercy, Plan, Purpose and Grace

Paul was persecuting Christians, and God wanted him to stop. When light flooded from heaven and blinded the Jew, he obeyed, and his sight was restored. At that moment, Paul experienced God’s mercy. The converted Pharisee immediately went to work. He stopped murdering Christians and began proclaiming God’s grace, winning new converts all across the Roman Empire. God’s plan was in full motion. Paul led an adventurous life as a missionary. He understood the need to fulfill his duty at any cost and tried to live in a way that would encourage others to have a relationship with God. He …
