Are you up for Peter’s challenges?
2. Build a Solid Christian Fellowship
I Peter 2: 4 – “You also like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
As followers of Jesus we are to set apart the moment we believe. Peter calls us ‘living stones’. It is the ‘living stones’ who make up the church.
One of the desires that is placed within us is to be surrounded by other believers. We have to leave our old life of worldliness behind and become a part of a new fellowship of believers. This fellowship is held together by Jesus.
My favorite verse that best illustrates this is Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 – “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three stands is not quickly broken.”
Worldly fellowship is like a stack of bricks – they are easily knocked down and fall away from each other, crumbled, broker and alone.
Believer fellowship is like a brick wall that is built by a master mason (God) – each brick is surrounded by mortar (Jesus) and is loving placed beside another like brick. This wall, if it should fall is different, the bricks will fall together and groups will remain steadfast. If one should fall away it is still covered with the mortar (Jesus).
I am so blessed to be part of strong and wonderful fellowship of Jesus Christ. With Jesus I am never alone.
