I just read six of the most encouraging words in the Bible, “at the appointed time I will.”
Today I read Genesis 18. God is telling Abraham that Sarah will bear a child, a son. As Sarah laughs at the thought since she is past child-bearing age, God calls her out for her laughter and doubt. He then goes onto say in Genesis 18: 14, “Is there anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you and Sarah shall have a son.”
At the appointed time, I will. Wow! There is so much in just that short sentence! Maybe you have been waiting for a child-like Sarah. Maybe you have been waiting to find the perfect partner. Maybe you are waiting for a door to open and lead to your perfect career. Maybe you are carrying so much of a burden that you don’t know how you can go on. But God says those 6 words, at the appointed time, I will.
In the dictionary, the word appointed means decided on beforehand, designated. Therefore, only God knows the timing. He is the one who designated the appropriate time in which ‘He will’; not my time, not your time but His time. And when you add the last 2 words of the sentence, He will perform the miracle you have been doubting and ‘His will’ shall be performed. At the appointed time I will, place the perfect partner in your path. At the appointed time I will, bless you with a son. At the appointed time I will, provide that raise you need to pay the bills. At the appointed time I will, take someone from your life. Though you will grieve, you will learn about my love and grow closer to me. At the appointed time I will, put a person in your path who will help lead you to me, your Lord and savior. At the appointed time I will provide for you a best friend you can lean on in all times.
How encouraging are those six words! I’m thanking God today for I know in His appointed time He will, always take care of me!
