Battle Plan

Day by Day Devotions

About the same time I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, my friend was battling addiction. I sent her scriptures and stood in the gap and prayed, but it was too late. She was in a firestorm and under intense attack. Her only option was duck and cover. Life is a battlefield. If you are not armed, you will be harmed. Prepare in advance.

1 Peter 5:8, “Be serious! Be alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.” HCSB

Recognize the enemy of our soul is seeking to destroy us. He kicks us when we are down and he certainly doesn’t play fair. Choose sides now. Be ready with a solid defense as well as an effective offense. Know what you believe and why.

John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” NIV

Knowing why you believe what you believe requires knowing God’s word. Be prepared and armed with the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. If you only know a few verses, you are fighting the devil with a toothpick.

CHALLENGE

  1. List the pieces of the armor of God (see Ephesians 6)
  2. How can you specifically arm yourself?
