Be Slow to Anger

Scripture: Proverbs 19: 11:  A man’s wisdom gives him patience; and it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

Also Paul wrote these words many years later in Ephesians 4: 26: Be angry and sin not; do not let the sun go down on your wrath and give the devil a foothold.

Though anger is one of man’s God-given emotions and is not sinful, sin results when anger is not controlled or not expressed as righteous Indignation. Jesus expressed that kind of anger once when His Father’s house was being used as a place of merchandise.  Once when Jesus and His disciples went to Jerusalem and entered the temple area, He  drove out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned tables of the money changers, and benches of those selling doves. And He would not allow any to carry merchandise through the temple.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I’m thankful during my current age that I have more control over the emotion of anger, and if I’m not already forgiven, forgive me for any I offended while angry: for I pray in Jesus’ name.
