“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippine 4: 8-9
I am aware the writer of this scripture said we are to think on these qualities, but I believe they are qualities that every believer should endeavor to cultivate in his or her life. These are a few of the many scriptures which instruct us to live pure lives:
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” Matthew 5: 5
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51: 10
“So flee youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart,” 2 Timothy 2: 22
“But we humans will sin, and I’m thankful for scriptures like these: For God so loved the world, He gave His Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3: 16
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1: 9
Prayer: Heavenly Father, though my life is far from being as pure and lovely as that of Jesus, I truly believe the adversities of recent days and months are allowed in an effort to make my life more like that of Jesus. So thank You, Father, and continue Your finishing work in my life. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
