Meet Beth Shumate
From a miracle baby to an unexpected warrior it was always evident that my Creator has touched my life. Saved at nine years old, I knew who Jesus was and even what he wanted me to do. I was called to teach even before I can remember. At four years old I had a head injury that could have defined my entire future but God knew exactly what he was doing as he worked through that injury to do something miraculous.
Days turn to years and years to decades. An abusive marriage that took up twenty years but produced three beautiful boys was to be used for his glory. My career in education remained a passion to help others find a better life for themselves, as I also grew stronger and more confident that God was leading me into school leadership roles. Leadership is not for the faint of heart.
Soon I found myself faced with much adversity but Jesus again used trials to make warriors even stronger. I never really wanted to be a warrior or even thought of myself as one, until recently.
Until I looked back on my life and how things have happened, how God fits all the pieces together for good. Today I find myself being blessed more than should even be possible.
A husband that loves my boys and me unconditionally, a school and community that holds Godly values dear we are blessed beyond measure. This unexpected warrior has found a refuge if even for a moment to be thankful, to sing God’s praises and rest only to stand again tomorrow and fight for our Lord and Savior. My verse…”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9.
