Are You Up For Peter’s Challenges?
4. We are called to witness
I Peter 2: 6-8 – For in scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become a cornerstone,” and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they are destined for.
One of the things that scares a Christian is the actual call to witness to the lost. Feelings of vulnerability and inadequacy come to the forefront of our mind. God does not want this to happen to us. He wants us to feel comfortable witnessing to the lost.
Our first thought is “I can’t do this” followed by “I don’t know what to say” then comes the cop out “Don’t we pay our preachers to do this”. These things are easy for me to say to you because I have had these same thoughts.
Our love for Jesus and what he did for us should not be kept secret. He asks that we tell others about Him. If you had the cure for cancer, you would share it with everyone you came in contact with.
Beloved, you have something far better than the cure for cancer – you know the one who can save others from an eternity in hell and how they can live a life of grace, mercy and lover throughout an eternity.
This information is worth sharing with everyone. Don’t miss an opportunity due to your feelings of inadequacy to share Jesus; he will give you the strength, knowledge and wisdom to step up boldly in His Name.
