God’s Map

I recently went shopping with my friend Sara in an Amish town in Indiana. It’s amazing how time away with the friend who knows you the best is like medicine for the soul and was just the refreshment and renewal I needed! Once I got home after a few days full of belly laughs and miles of walking, I thought about the trip. The village where we went shopping, had many stores within walking distance. We were thankful they had maps available to guide us on our mission! We both grabbed a map, but after the first few …

God’s Plan for Redemption

God wrote His story before creation came into being even before He created the heavens and the earth. Because God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent He sees all, knows all, is everywhere at the same time and so powerful He can speak a word and it will be so. Because of who He is, God had a detailed plan to bring about the redemption of fallen man even before Adam and Eve were created and sinned in the Garden of Eden. It was God who planned to bring salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son.  He determined the …

God’s Plan

My dad liked to move a lot. I am remembering one move in particular this morning. I was almost 9 and I was glad to leave the school I was attending. But I also had to leave Nipper behind. He was one of my favorite dogs of all time. A border collie mix, he went everywhere I did. We lived in the country and I spent a lot of time in the woods, at the creek on our property and riding my bicycle up and down the red dirt roads. He was always at my side. The day we left …

Running with God’s Plan for My Life

Galatians 5: 7 – You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth? (NIV)   I am sitting on the porch this morning trying to soak up all that God is trying to show me through His word. Last year I participated in Phyllis Shirer’s study of Jonah. The memories of this study came back to me this morning when I began thinking about the times in my life when I became frustrated because God interrupted my life. I personally thought everything was going just fine and I had a …

Faith God’s Divine Plan

Genesis 15: 13-14 “Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions” Before the beginning of time, God had a plan. Before He laid the foundation of the earth, He designed the plan of salvation because He loved us enough He wanted to have a lasting relationship with His human creation. This relationship …

God’s Divine Plan

2 Timothy 1: 8b-9 (NKJV) “the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” 1 Peter 1: 20 (NKJV) “He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you” Before the foundation of the earth was laid in place and before the heavens were created, God had a plan.  He designed this salvation plan for sinful man even before He created …

At the Cross-God’s Plan in Action

The conference was what I wanted. The topics sounded informative, the lodging looked beautiful, and the hands-on video training was only slightly intimidating. I calculated ninety-six hours I could spend fine-tuning my speaking craft. I even planned out my free time. Between classes, I’d retreat to my room, practice my speech, and edit my novel. So, I registered and attempted to book a flight. The plane schedules were awful! Flying would take almost twice as long than if I drove. It dampened my enthusiasm. I reluctantly decided to drive. The long road trip turned out to be easy, even …
