Commit Problems to God and Rest in Him

The Wisdom of Solomon by James Tissot

Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived on earth, wrote these encouraging words found in

Proverbs 3: 5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

In these verses we are told to turn everything over to God; when we are able to do so, we have the promise God will direct our paths. Commitment means a complete hands off; God is able to solve my problems no matter how difficult, and all He asks me to do is trust Him with all my heart. But when I have done that to the best of my ability and see no visible results, what then?

That is where rest in the Lord comes into effect. Whether God removes my burden and solves my problem immediately, or requires me to wait awhile, He is aware of  everything about me and my life and though I can’t see what He is doing behind the scene, according to this and other promises in His Word, He is faithful and will solve my problem, and the answer will be the correct one.

Father, if You are endeavoring to teach me something, or rid my life of some sin, help me not be a slow learner. Give me courage to face each new day with expectation and the desire to serve you. I ask these blessings in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
