Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (KJV)
…”the called” – that’s us!), and
Jeremiah 29:11 (“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (KJV)).
These scripture verses are two of my anchor verses.
Romans tells me that even the setbacks are going to produce something good, and Jeremiah, in the Amplified Version, tells me that His will for my life includes hope in the “final outcome”.
A “final outcome” means that there is a result, so if I keep working to accomplish what He’s called me to do, there will, most certainly, be results! We don’t labor in vain when we labor for the Lord!
Now, don’t get me wrong, there will probably be multiple times when you want to quit. I remember quite well when I thought I should just give up my ministry. I was seeing no results, so I thought that I’d made a mistake in thinking God had called me. In those first stages, before I felt the fire in my bones, the devil knew I hadn’t gained confidence, so he tried to convince me to walk away. Well, all these years later, I’m SO glad I didn’t!
There is a saying that describes me, today: “like a dog with a bone”! That simply means committed, tenacious, stubborn, determined, single-minded; grabbing hold of something and not letting go. But, the only way I was able to get to that point was to develop confidence – not in myself, but in what God could do through me!
