Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”
Mark 5:36 “Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
Fear is one of the most disabling forces against man. Fear can emotionally and spiritually weaken a person. Fear steals one’s joy. It can prevent a person from doing the good that God planned for you to do.
Know that fear is temporary. It will pass. When fear enters your mind, know that God is with you. The Lord will help you defeat your fears.
When prophet Elisha’s servant saw a big army with horses and chariots surrounding the city, fear filled his mind. He did not know what to do. He was troubled by the size of the army that he must have forgotten who was with him. His fear blinded him of the presence of God. But Elisha spoke and told him not to be afraid, for those who are with them are far greater than those in the army. Elisha prayed, and God opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the chariots of fire that God sent all around Elisha.
Fear may come, but God is there to protect you. Fear may come, but God will not let your fears defeat you. God will help you overcome them.
A powerful way to defeat fear is to remember the victories that God has done in your life in the past. To rise above fear is to fix your eyes on what God is about to do rather than think of what the object of fear can do to you.
Trust in the Lord and put your faith in him, for he will sure cast away your fears.
