I can’t believe this, but here it is. A New York farm is offering a 60-minute cow cuddling session for $75. They are also offering a full Cow and Horse Experience, which allows the customer to pet, brush and play with both cows and horses coming in at $300 for 90-minutes. With the price of cattle being so low right now, it certainly would be a lucrative proposition for the right farmer.
While I agree that the idyllic scene of farm life is relaxing and all, it is amazing the price that we humans are willing to pay to attempt to find peace, tranquility and relaxation.
I get it. We’ve all done it. Bought something in the hopes that it will give us something elusive and temporary.
Oh beloved, there is One who paid the highest price for your peace! He paid the highest price for all your troubles, your sins and your weariness. His name is Jesus. And because He paid a price you could not afford, He has now given that freely to you. No charge. Just response. The Lord goes on to say in His Word, “Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance.” What a promise!
God wants to ask you the most important question of the day – are you going to believe Me and thereby find exactly what you are looking for? In Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily – everything of God is in Christ. And Christ is in you, the hope of glory. This is where you will find fulfillment. You can’t buy fulfillment – you can’t buy peace, youth, relaxation or sleep. But God will give you everything you need for this life and for the godliness of this life. He holds the winning ticket and you just have to go to Him to receive the gold!
God loves you and He’s for you. Because of this truth He provides all you need according to His riches in Glory. Run to Him this morning and ask Him for help. Ask Him for provision. Ask Him for peace. And praise Him in all your days, both good and bad. Then discover the secret of the Christian life – joy, peace, contentment and more – in the Light of His Mercy and Grace.
