It has been said that God always answers prayers, but the answer may be yes, no, or wait awhile. And we should know there are some hindrances to answered prayer. First, we need to know that the only prayer of the unsaved God answers is God be merciful to me a sinner. Remember one of the malefactors on a cross being executed with Jesus confessed his sin and asked for Jesus’ mercy. Jesus promised him that day he would be with Him in paradise. Luke 23: 39-43.
Next, faith is essential for answered prayer. Many references could be given, however James wrote if any lack wisdom to ask God, but to ask in faith or not to expect anything from the Lord. James 1: 5-7.
Know sin not confessed also is a hindrance to answered prayer; we are to come before God as David did and confess our sins to God. Also we must pray according to God’s will and not ours. Then if our prayer is not answered, we need to wait: maybe God is trying to teach us patience.
Father, thank You for the privilege of prayer: forgive us when we fail to consistently share our joys and sorrows with You in prayer. We pray in Jesus holy Name. Amen.
