I woke up this morning to the phone alarm and a loud truck driving by. The alarm is mine and the truck is a neighbor’s. In fact, that neighbor heading to work was a little boy who came to play with my older grandkids a few years back. Amazing how time rolls on. Waking up to alarms and roaring trucks is okay but I can think of more peaceful ways to enter into a new day.
Oh beloved, what kind of alarms are you waking up to? Is your mind repeating the lies of yesterday? When you get up do you reach for the tv control to hear the latest news – which may be entirely or partially fake? Who have you put your trust in? It’s no wonder satan is called the prince of the powers of the air. He speaks his lies into the hearts of unsuspecting people all the time. He’s lied to me before. He takes a tincture of truth and tints truth with it – and if we’re not careful we’ll take it in and live it out. Worthless, useless, has been, done for, over with, weakling, unimportant, unfriended, uninvited. These words sell on the news, but they aren’t the truth at all. It might be time to change channels. It might be time to silence those alarms in your mind.
God wants you to turn to His channel first thing. Check out what He’s talking about. Take in His truth before any other news. Learn to believe Him first and in spite of anything else you hear. Start with yourself. There’s something wonderful about believing what God says about you. It is your safety net when you’re dangling from the tight rope of hardship. It’s your escape hatch when the enemy wants you to succumb to his plans. It’s your Rock and Safe Harbor against the storms of life.
God says you are invincible – more than able to face it all and overcome it as well. You are beautiful – perfect in His sight and oh so lovely. You belong to Him – no other agency on earth has exclusive rights to you like He does. You are cared for in the most intimate and perfect way – always, always, always. You are cherished – of great value to the Lord and prized by Him. Turn up the sound of His voice if you have a hard time believing. God never lies, never stretches the truth and never wants to enslave you with His agenda. He wants to teach you to abide in Him and to love you so well that you can’t bear to be away with Him, nor can you ever follow any other voice.
God loves you and He’s for you. News flash! It’s true! You’re the exact representation of redemption, salvation, sanctification and future glorification! More good news – you’re saved to the uttermost! And even more good news – you get to have a relationship with the Only Living God for the rest of your life and beyond! Run to Him this morning and ask Him to show you the Truth and then tell others how wonderful the life of a believer really is as you walk in confidence about yourself in Christ all the days of your life!
Titus 1: 2 This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God–who does not lie–promised them before the world began.
Hebrews 6: 18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.
Numbers 23: 19 God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
I Peter 3: 4 You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.
