Don’t Let Christmas Become a Cartoon

We watched an old Christmas cartoon with our grandkids the other night. It was a classic with Mickey, Pluto and the two chipmunks. The chipmunks were wreaking havoc with the Christmas tree and Pluto was doing his best to guard it. In the end Pluto was frustrated and just went after those two little trouble makers and the tree was completely wrecked! And Pluto was blamed for it all.

Somebody wants to wreak havoc on your Christmas. There are situations going on that you feel you have no control over. Trouble is brewing and you’re trying to decide if you get into the fray or let it go. Your frustration level is rising and you don’t know how much longer you can stand it. There’s a lesson to learn from Pluto: if you succumb to the flesh everything will be wrecked and you will be blamed. Even if it’s someone else’s fault. The truth is, when we take matters into our own hands, the flesh, we get in trouble every single time. Even when it’s the enemy of our soul doing the dirty work, he steps aside and lets us get the blame. His desire is to kill, steal and destroy not just Christmas but our very lives.

Oh beloved, your life is so precious to the Lord. His love for you is so lavish and constant. His care is abounding for you and your life. He knows every problem that threatens to wreck your Christmas. He sees every secret heartache and every tear. He also knows the frustration that wants to mount an all-out attack on your holiday and your life. He’s calling you in love to look away from the trouble and look to Him. He will set your heart at ease about those things you cannot control. He will also give you something else to focus on – worship and praise. These two blessings will give you blessings even when the “chipmunks of life” are threatening every fiber of your being. Let those things go. God has a handle on everything even when you don’t see it. You don’t have to guard everything, you just have to give it to the Lord. He’s been guarding it anyway. He just wants you to have your peace back and your faith to be resolved to believe God and remain calm and steadfast in the midst of the chaos. Yes, you will have these times when it looks hopeless and you feel helpless. That’s when God becomes greater in your life! He comes in to do spiritually what you cannot do in the flesh. When you stay focused on God, He gives you triumph, peace and joy. He also works all things out for your good and His glory.

God loves you and He’s for you. Stand still and see the glory of God come through for you not just at Christmas, but all through the year as you live in the light of His Word and show forth His glory and grace!
