Don’t Procrastinate

Don’t Procrastinate

Solomon, perhaps the wisest man who ever lived on earth, wrote that we are not to boast about tomorrow: for we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Proverbs 27: 1.

Many years later James wrote these words: Come now you who say, ” Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a place and spend a year there and trade and make a profit. Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring… for your life is as a vapor that appears for a brief time and then vanishes. But you should say if the Lord wills, we will do this or that, however, you boast in your arrogance and such boasting is evil.”

Some people may pat themselves on the shoulder and say that procrastination, or putting things off until later, is not one of her weaknesses. Although you may not procrastinate, there is a worse sin: becoming impatient while waiting on God and running ahead of Him.

One example was Abraham and Sarah becoming tired of waiting for a child, and Abraham fathering a son by Hagar.

Heavenly Father, each of us is born with certain character traits: some of us have a tendency to put things off until later, and some are go getters who often become tired waiting on You and follow our wills instead of Yours. Each of us will need Your forgiveness and we ask for that in the name of Jesus who made our forgiveness possible. Amen
