Life is full of experiences. Recently I experienced extremes for sure.
One was a conversation with a “Christian” literary agent. It was a very short back and forth over devotionals and books. She had asked to see some of my work. So I sent her some devotionals. She answered back within a few minutes with a nice but negative response. Her response kind of hit me in the emotions. But I know God called me to write.
But right after that conversation I saw a post where a faith friend shared something I posted and gave a beautifully positive response. Again, I was hit in the emotions. I know God called me to write.
All this to say, emotions will always want to be lord over your life.
Oh beloved, you are who God says you are. By virtue of new birth, the living way, The Sacrifice of Christ. As the song goes, you don’t deserve it, you didn’t earn it yet… You are seated in heavenly places – and it is God who put you there. He alone makes life worth living and He alone makes you worthy at all.
God wants you to know today that He understands your emotions. He just wants to make sure that you do. All the emotions in the world won’t make or break your life unless you give into them. It’s all about your focus. He wants to loosen you from the confusion emotions can bring. Unless your emotions follow your actions, your emotions will take the lead and cause you to make decisions that are opposite of your calling. God wants you loosed from the confusion of believing that negative responses in your life aren’t the truth about you. Having less is not being less. Having more is not being more. What you have or don’t have is not who you are. How you FEEL about yourself must be thoroughly grounded in the Truth no matter what. You may FEEL worn out, but you are strong in the Lord. You may FEEL like giving up, but you are an OVERCOMER in Christ. You may FEEL like going with the flow, but by faith you are standing on the promises. You may FEEL useless, hopeless, powerless, friendless, and more – but the feelings aren’t coming from the Lord. With every feeling you experience there is a Word from God to counteract that spirit. And you, beloved, are able to walk through it all by seeking God’s face, hearing His voice and believing His Word over anything else you hear!
God loves you and He’s for you. Believing this simple phrase is a huge start to victory over the feelings. Run to the Lord this morning and thank Him for being your Friend, your Confidence, your Author and your Redeemer! And live, beloved, loved and cherished and chosen – in the Light of His Glory and Grace.
Isaiah 58: 11 “And the LORD will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.”
2 Corinthians 5: 7 “for we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Romans 1: 17 … As it is written and forever remains written, “The just and upright shall live by faith.”
