One day Jesus had had a long day of healing the sick and casting demons out of people. I imagine He was tired and needed to care for Himself for a little while. He told His disciples to “Cross over to the other side of the lake.”
Jesus got into the boat to cross the lake with His disciples. In the midst of their journey, a terrible storm came with high waves. Jesus was asleep when the storm approached. Everyone was scared so they woke up Jesus and Jesus asked them a question and then He performed a miracle.
“He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.” Matthew 8:26.
We all go through storms. I’m not speaking of literal storms, but events which interfere with our lives and cause us heartache and pain. Jesus isn’t sleeping anymore. He’s alive and well seated in Heaven at the right hand throne of His Father.
We don’t have to worry when rough waters come our way; Jesus rebuked the storms for the disciples and He will do it for us as well. Let’s strive to have more faith than the disciples did. Let’s be of big faith – not little.
