“I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish, I wish tonight!” Oh how often I looked out at the stars at night making a wish. Hoping against all hope that something wonderful would happen or that some gift would magically appear to me in wonder and awe. Hope is a funny thing. We use it instead of prayer and hold our breath. It’s burst out into midair with no apparent destination other than to boomerang right back into our hearts.
God wants you to know that you can call on Him for anything and everything. He says wishful hoping is not what you need now. You need faith. You need the faith that is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11: 1)
Oh beloved, turn from the stars in the sky and lean on the Lord! He has given you all the faith you will ever need to produce the right kind of hope in Him! He is your hope. He is your answer. He is everything you will ever need and oh so much more. What are you seeking? It’s found at the foot of the Cross. What are you hoping for? He doesn’t grant wishes, He answers your prayers. He’s not absent mindedly looking around for an occasional seeker, He knows you by name!
He’s no distant star maker. He’s the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth and He’s the Creator of you! He already knows your hopes and fears. He is bigger than your doubts. He is awesome and true and faithful and good.
God loves you and He’s for you! Don’t fear taking anything and everything to Him. Thank Him for His answers as you walk in faith and live in the light of His glory and grace!
