This week we will concentrate on the subject of faith: But before we can do so we must know what faith is. When defining faith, I prefer using these two definitions:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the
evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1.
The other meaningful definition of faith was given by a little boy. One Sunday after he returned from Sunday school, his dad asked him what subject they had studied. He quickly replied that they had studied about faith.
His father, thinking faith to be a profound subject for a little boy, asked if he had learned the meaning of faith. Without hesitation his son replied, “Yes sir, faith is taking God at His word and asking Him no questions.”
Each of us can learn a lesson from that little boy; many times in life we will encounter circumstances we don’t understand, but remember God is in control and believers have God’s promise in Romans 8:28 that He will bring good out of every circumstance He allows to touch our lives.
Romans 8:28 “ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8: 29 “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
We realize from Romans 8:29 that God is using our trials to make us more like Jesus. This makes it easier to bear the burdens.
Father, give us faith to see beyond our circumstances to the victory that awaits us. We ask this blessing in the Name of Jesus. Amen
