I just wanted to share a lesson of mine with anyone who might enjoy or relate to it. It sure was an eye opener for me. Have you ever been really irritated about a situation and ended up taking it out (justly or not) on someone else? Well that was my week last week. I was in a mood and everything anyone did would set me on edge. So as I am praying my morning prayers the Lord showed me Ephesians 6: 12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
“I do not wrestle with _____________ but with forces of evil that I can’t see.” And as if that wasn’t enough to make my perspective change He showed me that sometimes those forces will look like someone else, but they are NOT those people.
We are not called to wrestle, argue, get irritated with people (flesh and blood) but we are in WARFARE against spiritual forces of wickedness in high places. This so impacted me I have written it on my cubbie and left it blank… because on any particular day you could almost add any particular name. One day it may be your husband or wife, or kids, or co-workers, or boss, or in-laws, parents, or friends. Anyone can be filled in that blank. But see… we are not to fight against them. We are not in a war against others, but in a spiritual battle for our minds, body, and attitudes!!!!
Also the same day He showed me in a different verse that ‘We have been called to freedom, therefore brothers do not let your freedom be an opportunity for the flesh but through love serve one another”. Galatians 5: 13
Have you ever seen the weight watchers commercial with “hungry”? He is a little orange monster who tempts at every turn with cakes, pies, pizza, any thing that is not good for you when you are watching your weight. God showed me I have “hungry”, my little orange monster that tempts me each day at every turn is my flesh. Now in the commercial it says to plug in to your online support to help battle hungry.
So God said… Did you plug in to your online support? (Prayer) No, I fed hungry. We are tempted every day with our flesh because we are in a spiritual battle and our flesh is still with us every day no matter where we go or what we do it is there, but what I learned was that I should choose to “plug into my support” and pray for Jesus to overcome my flesh, because He already has I just have to be willing to let Him do it through me.
“Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4: 4
Am I willing to sacrifice my fleshly desires or am I going to feed “hungry” or worse yet take what “hungry” gives me.
