Finding Faith

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” – Matthew 17:20

To have faith means that you have a full belief and trust in knowing that something will work out for the good. This could be having faith that you’ll get chosen for a promotion at work, having faith that the pregnancy test you just took will come back positive, or having faith that the test results you’re waiting for to come back will show positive results. There are so many things that occur in our day to day lives that having faith can seem like one of the hardest things you have ever tried to do.

Maybe you are a new Christian and you don’t know where to find this faith because you haven’t seen God move in your life yet. When I was beginning my walk with God, my faith didn’t come in until after my brother was killed. My brothers passing led me to, not only finding God, but to me realizing that every situation I had been through in my life up until that point, had been God working within me. Once all of those events lined up, it was as though a puzzle had finally come together. God wants for us to believe in him, to trust him, to have faith in him because he knows what is in store for all of us. He knows every single piece of our puzzle and how it will all be put together in the end. Faith the size of a mustard seed, that’s it. If we can find it in us and in our hearts to have at least that amount of faith, God will see us through whatever we are going through.

God, help us as we learn to put our trust and faith into you. We all may struggle with this at times but as you state, if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, nothing would be impossible. Anything is possible through you Lord. We pray this in your name Lord, Amen.
