Flip the Switch

Like being in a train car going down a track, our actions can seem to be on autopilot. Cause and effect. You hurt me, so I hurt you. Or even worse, you hurt me so I hurt me. And so it goes. Until somebody comes and flips that switch to change the track. How many times do we go down the same set of tracks not believing in that switch? That switch of transformation that happens when we believe in Jesus, is given to us. The gift of the Holy Spirit.

As God transforms our minds and our hearts to be more like Him and desire to bring Him glory, that switch gets flipped and our course is less bumpy. In order to flip that switch though, it’s not our will that flips it, but aligning with His.
It’s like pulling the cord on the train to signal the driver and submitting to his control. We can signal and the flip could not be switched. Or we could signal and get onto the next track. Rerouted. Changed. Turned from the same old sin life we have been following down the same old tracks for so long. Flip it!!
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This was from a personal reflection when confronted with the temptation to go down the world’s track of revenge or defending my character when wronged. Rather than giving into that sin, through prayer and meditating on His Word, God showed me that it was possible to just change the track. This was an issue I have struggled with in the past and reoccurs over and over again in my life; the avoidance of confrontation. I was amazed at how God just flipped the switch in my thought process and changed my heart to one of compassion. I was able to extend forgiveness and truly pray for the other person. To Him be the Glory. Always.
