SIN
When Adam and Eve sinned because of their disobedience to God’s command, God’s creation suffered the consequences. No longer were Adam and Eve allowed to live in paradise but were cast out of the Garden of Eden. The ground was cursed and would produce thorns and thistles and Adam was to gather food by the sweat of his brow. Eve would have intense labor pains during childbirth. Physical death and pain came into existence.
But the most important thing lost because of sin was Adam and Eve’s ability to commune with God as they walked in the garden. They would no longer have a relationship with God as they had before sin. It had been broken. God would provide a way for man’s relationship to be restored, as was His plan from the foundation of the earth (Revelations 13: 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.) NKJV. The plan from Holy God for man to be redeemed was through the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. His name is Jesus.
Sin would cast man into a downward spiral of depravity. Adam and Eve would have two sons named Cain and Abel. Jealousy and hatred entered and soon the first murder took place. From there sin runs rampant until…
Genesis 6: 5-8 “When the Lord saw that man’s wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, 6 the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 Then the Lord said, “I will wipe off from the face of the earth mankind, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky—for I regret that I made them.” 8 Noah, however, found favor in the sight of the Lord.” HCSB
God had provided a way for one man and his family to survive destruction. The man’s name was Noah and God Himself would give this man a means of survival by giving him instructions for building an ark. But even after God’s provision, Noah and his family who had survived the flood soon returned to satisfying their sin nature. Many examples can be found in Genesis where man continues to sin: the tower of Babel when man wanted to be like God, Sodom and Gomorrah for depravity of sinful ways, deception, jealousy, anger and hatred. All of these sinful traits continued even through the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and sons.
Man would suffer the consequences of sin as we do even today.

Sin continues throughout the Old Testament and begins in the New Testament with God’s answer to sin-Jesus Christ the Messiah. Jesus would pay the penalty for sin and death with His sacrifice on the cross as the Lamb of God. He paid the debt so our relationship with God would be restored. But by design, the only way man can come to Holy God is through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. If you do not know Jesus as your Savior, please see this link-Jesus Christ the Messiah.
What amazing love God had for His creation! In spite of all the sin and the depths of depravity that we reach, He loved us enough to die for us.
