While enduring trials and suffering, and they seem to go on and on, do not become discouraged. God will allow Satan to go only so far, and recall he must have God’s permission to afflict Job, and after God gave His permission, He put restrictions on those afflictions. I have met one or two people through My Journey of Faith Ministries, who are enduring severe illnesses, and I want to assure them, and myself, that Satan can go only so far. Then one day God will intervene and stop his hand, or take us to be with Him. Either way, we are winners.
So while you and I are enduring severe testing or suffering, may God grant us the endurance to keep trusting Him for victory. None of us have suffered as Paul did; yet he was able to write these encouraging words, he said through his suffering he was becoming more like Jesus; not that he had completely obtained this, or was perfect, but forgetting what is behind, he was pressing on toward the goal for the prize of his upward call of God in Christ Jesus. And Paul would encourage us to do the same.
Heavenly Father, not one little sparrow falls to the ground without your awareness; and You love each of Your children, no matter how weak and sinful, and will allow Satan to go only so far in tempting us, and we can take comfort in this promise:
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man, but God is faithful, and will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation, provide a way of escape that you may be able to bear it.”
1 Corinthians 10: 13
