“You hem me in behind and before, and lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I can not attain it.” Psalm 139: 5-6a
David is credited with writing this psalm, and perhaps few, if any men, have been exposed to more danger than David. While a shepherd he was protected from wild beasts; while a lad he was protected from Goliath, the giant. He was protected during the many times he fled from the deranged Saul, and was protected from enemies during many battles. But David is only one example of God’s divine protection: because God protects all His children; sometimes it will be during their earthly journey; and sometimes He may call them home when He foresees danger in their paths. We will not always understand His choice of protection, but it will be the best one for a believer.
Heavenly Father, although I do not fully understand Your purpose during many of my recent difficult trials and experiences; I think during most of the time I had assurance of Your protection. I continue to need that assurance and pray for it in Jesus’ name. Amen.
