Going to a women’s fellowship Saturday evening, I had never been there before. So Danny gave me some good directions and I punched the address in my GPS. Those two sets of directions didn’t say the same thing. I followed the GPS and it got me there. But not without some decision-making skills needed. Once I left the highway there were many forks in the road without any road signs. But each time I turned on the wrong road my GPS said “Recalculating” which meant I needed to turn around and take the other road. Leaving in the dark that night was even more interesting because well, it was dark! And I went out the way Danny had told me to come in because it was closer. But more decisions were needed to take the right turns. It would have been much easier to have taken hubby’s directions first. Finally, I made it out to the main highway, the one we know well, and I made a bee line for home.
Oh beloved, God has directions for you that will simplify your life. But He is so loving, patient and good that He will let you know when you make a wrong turn. The best life is following His directions without fail. But we’re human. We will fail now and then. The best of us make wrong turns, wrong decisions and find ourselves in the middle of nowhere with more road and less certainty.
God wants you to know this morning that you aren’t perfect. But you are being perfected in Christ. You are going to miss the mark on occasion. But don’t let your imperfections keep you from leaning on the Lord. Just as I whispered Lord help me get to the highway, you can always call on Him to get you back on track with Him. He forgives you always. He never say “I told you so”. He will always say I’ll take care of you, I will work it out for you, I love you. His grace never runs out. He never gets tired of forgiving you, leading you, guiding you and directing you. He won’t leave you in the wilderness of mistakes and mess ups to find your own way. Your weakness is His opportunity to shower His mercy on you and light your way.
God loves you and He’s for you. Take His direction first. It will be the easiest way. But when you falter and mess up, run to Him quickly and tell Him all about it. He will wrap you up in His robe of righteousness, remind you that He is your way maker and give you a fresh start as you live in the Light of His unbelievable mercy and grace.
