God’s Plan for Redemption

God wrote His story before creation came into being even before He created the heavens and the earth. Because God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent He sees all, knows all, is everywhere at the same time and so powerful He can speak a word and it will be so. Because of who He is, God had a detailed plan to bring about the redemption of fallen man even before Adam and Eve were created and sinned in the Garden of Eden.

It was God who planned to bring salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son.  He determined the exact place, and time. He determined every detail of the birth of Jesus including His mother and step-father and the exact location of His birth.  He determined where Jesus would perform miracles, who He would choose for His disciples, and He knew Judas would betray Jesus.  He knew how and when the death of Jesus would take place.  It was part of His divine plan and scripture reveals it.

You will find God’s plan throughout the pages of the Bible, both old and new testament.  He revealed His plan for human redemption with pieces of His design woven through the books of the Bible like a scarlet thread of blood that culminates at the cross, in the resurrection, ascension and the second coming of Jesus Christ, His Son.  The covenants God made with man, the law, the Priests and the sacrificial system, the Psalms, and the prophets all give us clues to the purpose for the coming of the Messiah.

Jesus Himself, after He was resurrected, spoke of the prophecies with two of His followers on the road to Emmaus:

“Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.”Luke 24: 25-27

In reference to Jesus, God the Son:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1: 1-3

“The power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began”2 Timothy 1: 8b-9 (NKJV)

“He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you”1 Peter 1: 20

Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”  John 17: 24

“All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13: 8

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.”Psalm 33: 11 (NKJV)
