Guidance in Uncertainty

The Lord directs the steps of the Godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. (Psalm 37:23)

Would you like to sit down and have a heart to heart talk with God? Perhaps He could tell you the exact plan that He has for your life. Or maybe He could lay it all out in black and white; marking out a path so you will know exactly what lies ahead.

Well, life doesn’t work that way.  God doesn’t mark out a clear pathway for our lives, nor does He provide us with turn by turn directions.  Instead, He gives us just enough direction to take one step at a time while trusting Him to lead the way.

In Psalms 133: 119, David asks God to order his steps.  He knew the importance of God’s guidance as he walked through life.  He realized how important it was for God to help fight each battle.  Without God leading the way, David knew his own plan was apt to fail.

Yes, life can be confusing and uncertain. And when you’re tempted to get ahead of God’s plan, always stop and listen for His directions.  Everything you need has already been mapped out—and it all works perfectly as long as you follow His guidance.

“In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path” (Proverbs 3:6).
