Last night I went to our 10 year old grandson’s Christmas concert. After the balmy weather we’ve had I was freezing. I know, it’s not even winter yet, but I am already anticipating spring. Chilled to the bone, I was wishing I had at least worn a sweater. I rode with his family to the concert and back to their house. The three grands showed me the Christmas lights in their bedrooms and I got hugs from them all and headed for the car.
As I approached I heard the motor and wondered if I’d forgotten to turn it off when I arrived. (Prius cars make no noise, it’s easier to forget to turn them off than you’d think). But as I got into the seat and felt the warmth inside I realized something. My son in love had gone to my car, started it up and turned the heat on high for me. I was in tears. Such a kind gesture! And what a blessing! I hadn’t asked for it, nor had I even thought of it. Still I was blessed.
Oh beloved, God knows your needs. Even now, when the world can be so dark and cold. Watch for His presence. Watch as He performs wondrous deeds for you out of nowhere. Even when you don’t know you have a need, He provides. Look back and see what He’s done for you in the past. Look now at what He is doing. And rejoice that as you look forward you know He has gone before you and will provide for every need according to His riches in Glory!
He knows your heart needs warming and your life needs a spark of hope. He’s your hope. He’s your spark. He’s your warmth in these times. Even at Christmas, people can get depressed, discouraged, and full of despair. But with Christ at the manger, Christ on the Cross and Christ the Resurrected One who left the tomb empty, we can set our hearts on more than just another miserable winter, miserable holiday, miserable life. You, beloved, are so beautiful to the Lord and He loves you so much that He has moved heaven and earth on your behalf. Don’t waste another moment groaning over what chills you, but watch as God might even use another person to bless you.
God loves you and He’s for you. He’s got you covered. No matter what your days feel like, you can know that you are cared for. So rest in His peace, rejoice in Christ’s birth, worship Him in Holiness and live in the warmth of His glory and grace!
