I am really good at helping my husband. Sometimes I go overboard. Case in point. He wanted a new/different hammer drill. So he had one picked out and was planning to go to Little Rock to get it. Well, I decided I could order one and get it to the house quicker than he could go get it in the store. I wanted to save time and save him some trouble. My motive was honorable. Only I didn’t order the right kind. I ordered one like he already had. “Don’t try to help me so much” was his reply. Thankfully I was able to have the wrong one picked up and the money refunded.
Sometimes we hear from the Lord and we forget to wait. We think we can help Him. He says wait. He says trust. He says I AM that I AM. He knows exactly what He’s doing. We don’t always know what He’s doing till He has accomplished that word He spoke into our hearts. Even when our motives are honorable, we don’t have the capacity to help God. What we need is the patience He gives us to wait till He accomplishes what He says.
Oh beloved, whatever you have heard from God trust Him. He is truly the Great I AM. He doesn’t even need you to do a thing FOR Him except to wait ON Him! His plans, His prophecies, His production – all start and end in Him. He is more able to choose your path and smooth things out before you than you will ever be. Your waiting is producing something far more valuable in your heart and mind. As you remember what God has said to you and you learn to wait on Him to produce it, you will learn to trust in the Lord in a higher and more spirit led way. Learning to wait is valuable. As Job and the Lord discussed, God said “Where were you when I…” Exactly. God is not a man that He should lie or human so that He doesn’t change His mind. Your job is to live in faith, watch in prayer and remember who God is – the God of hope, the refuge for your weary waiting heart and the King Who will do what He says.
He wants you to know that you are not going to fail because He will perform it through you. You aren’t going to forget because He will bring it all to remembrance. And until it is fulfilled you are still the one He wants to do His work through, that will never change. He also is blessing you with more faith, greater motives and unprecedented anointing! You aren’t the sum of your impatience or your helpfulness – you are the called one who is learning to abide in Christ all the way!
God loves you and He’s for you – words of sweet trust and abiding faith! Run to Him this morning and tell Him how wonderful it is to be loved and called by the Only Living God! And wait on Him to fulfill everything He has promised as you live in the Light of His Glory and Grace!
Numbers 23: 19 God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
2 Timothy 2: 13 if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Psalm 27: 14 Wait patiently for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait patiently for the LORD.
Psalm 130: 5 I wait for the LORD; my soul does wait, and in His word I put my hope.
