One of our grands’ backpacks has a strap that is fraying loose. I’ve got to sew it back tightly. The weight of what is carried in that backpack has found a weak spot. Without sewing it back the strap will eventually come totally loose.
Oh beloved, God reminds me to sew that backpack. And He remind us all that sometimes the contents we carry is so heavy that our faith starts to fray. We’ve all tried to carry more than we were meant to. We can even get bent over with the heaviness of it all. Pretty soon we think it’s just our place to drag the contents around – even stuff Jesus died to set us free from.
This morning God is checking the contents of your backpack of life. As He goes through it all He is asking you things. Why are you carrying fear around? It won’t feed you, enable you or assist you in any way. Why pack worry? What’s that doing for you? Dragging you down and causing you to lose faith in the Lord. Get it out of there. How about unforgiveness? It’s so very heavy – because it has dual weight. Not forgiving yourself? And not forgiving others? Loose it now. Remind yourself that the grace of God covers it all forever. As you drop the fear, worry and unforgiveness, you already feel so much lighter and the weight that threatened to fray your faith is now not so heavy. You are lightened and able to walk uprightly and victoriously!
God loves you and He’s for you. Go ahead this morning and allow Him to show you anything that you have no need to carry. Jesus came to rescue you form heavy weights of life. Rejoice that today is the day for your liberation from the self-weighted life. And take on the Lord Jesus Christ, who will keep your faith stress free and strongly sewed together all the days of your life!
