1 Corinthians 3: 16 – “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you…..for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.”
When I stop to think “I am a temple of the Lord” I always stand in awe and almost unbelief that the Lord trusts me with his Holy Spirit and that spirit is within me. One of my fellow writers at My Journey of Faith, Doris Lisemby, sent me an encouragement email last year. I will never forget what she said “You will never be anything without Him. I know this for a fact because without Him I am nothing”. These two sentences contain 99 years of wisdom and I know she is right in what she said.
As believers we have an awesome responsibility to care for our temple. It should be handled with care and treated as a precious gift. I will be the first to admit that I don’t eat and exercise properly. But I try.
Now that I am a believer I have a responsibility to God to maintain a healthy temple for his Spirit to dwell. My outward appearance is a direct reflection on my inward beauty. I want to let Jesus shine through me in everything that I do and say.
Father God – I know that I am your temple and that Your Spirit lives in me. Lord your temple is sacred and I am to care for your temple as I would my most prize possession. Thank you Lord for choosing me to be your temple.
