John 8: 12-13 “When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
Once after Jesus had been preaching and the crowds were about to push Him into Lake Gennesaret, He got into a boat and knowing Peter had fished all night and caught no fish, told him to let down their nets in deep water. Peter did, and caught so many fish, the net was breaking.
Later during Jesus ministry, one day after talking with the multitude, He asked Philip where they were to buy food for all these people. Philip had no solution, but Andrew, another of His disciples, told Him in their crowd was a lad with two fish and five loaves of bread.
Jesus took that lad’s lunch and fed that great multitude: what a wonderful wayside ministry! That morning when that lad’s lunch was packed , he had no idea it would feed so many people.
Prayer thought: Father, I do not have much to give, but You took the lad’s lunch and fed 5,000 men plus all the women and children. So use my limited abilities and use them in ways to bless others. I pray and thank You in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
