Jesus Is The Best Friend

Day by Day Devotions

“Jesus Is The Best Friend…”

You could ever have,
When no one else is there
He’s there to hold your hand…
To walk with you, comfort you,
Embrace you in His arms.
When the road gets rough and steep,
He’ll carry you farther on

John 15:14 (NIV) “You are my friends if you do what I command.”

II Peter 3:9b (NIV) “He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

John 15:13 (NIV) “Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends.”

Jesus calls us friend…someone He knows intimately.  Can you imagine that?  The Lord of creation wants an intimate relationship with you and me.  He wants us to share our deepest and most private secrets with Him.

He laid down His life on the cross of Calvary, and is patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9b)

He says in His Word…He is our hiding place.  He will protect us from trouble.  He will surround us with songs of deliverance.  He will instruct us and teach us the way to go.  He will counsel and watch over us.  (Psalms 32:7-8) He will give us rest and help us carry the load.  (Matthew 11:28)  He will renew our strength when we are weary (Isaiah 40:29)

There is a beautiful old hymn that says it so well…

“What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and grief’s to bear!
What a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer”
