Knock Down the Pests

When we went to get ready for bed last night I noticed two areas where those lovely Asian beetles were wadded up. I decided that we didn’t need those little creatures in our bedroom. So I got the vaccum cleaner out and began to dispose of them. Once they were gone I finished getting ready for bed. But now more of them were in the room and they were everywhere. We discovered a small hole where the phone line went through the wall. Danny got his ladder and plugged the hole. But he moved the curtains and the bugs were all over it! It got worse and worse! Suddenly these cute little nuisances became gross problems. They began to fly and I began to panic!

Finally every single one of them were vacuumed up, the curtain was in the dryer (yeah I had to get that curtain out of there!) and I could restfully go to bed.

Oh beloved, cute little nuisances of life can become gross problems can’t they? We tolerate things and before we know it we are overrun with trouble. God wants you and me both to see the picture here today. Plug up the access to the problems we encounter and we won’t have such a big problem to get rid of. If you are overrun He will help. He’s not some distant ruler who leaves his people in their messes. He’s a beneficial King who comforts, assists, and delights in helping whenever there’s a situation that is out of control.

He also wants you to know He sees you standing guard over your loved ones. You stand in the gap and plug the holes where the enemy wants to come through. Valiantly you intercede. Sometimes the ones you intercede for don’t seem to have any change. They become overrun with their own troubles. Keep praying. Not a single prayer is wasted. Not a single request is ignored. Trust Him and keep asking Him for help for yourself and for others. Your destiny is not to succumb to nuisances, but to overcome every pest by the power of the Spirit and the word of God and prayer! A triple knock down is your reward. Every prayer is a knock down of the enemy and sends confusion in the enemy’s camp.

God loves you and He’s for you – He makes you valiant when you want to hide. He gives you courage when you feel terrorized. He is your strong tower, your answer to trouble and your way maker. Rejoice that you don’t have to worry about nuisances because you live on the solid foundation of heavenly proportions!

Psalm 107: 28  “Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.”

Romans 8: 26  “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.”

I Peter 5: 7  “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”

Matthew 11: 28  “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
