Fixing Hope on Jesus

Through Him [Christ] we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Romans 5: 2-5) Hope. It is something that we have all experienced in our lives, whether it’s hoping for that one particular birthday gift, …

Grace Beyond Expectation

Be Strong and Courageous

I am writing to myself today but I certainly hope that if you are where I am that it will speak to your heart.  ” Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” … 8 “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” Fear is something I have a hard time shaking. Over the years I really have struggled with anxiety …

I Struggle

I am about to be very transparent because I know there is another woman right now fighting against the same struggle. I battle anxiety…the kind that leaves you sweating, panicked, heart racing, can’t breath, walls closing in, out of control anxiety. I have struggled with this since High School and while some years an months are better than others the battle still reappears and the struggle to control it can wear me down. Over the years God has shown me so much through this and taught me when triggers come, my faith must be firmly rooted, my trust must be …

Seek Him First

As moms and women we race out of bed for the really important stuff… Big meeting… Baby crying… Getting the kids to school…. Just having to be somewhere important… We rush everyone else out the door and we are off to a hurried and rushed pace trying our best to keep up. This life has gotten out of control, we rush everywhere, we think of ourselves first, we are wrapped up in getting things right now and then we wonder why the world is chaotic when we look around. We have forgotten the most important piece of the puzzle. We …

Being a Wife in the Word

Have you ever wondered if reading your Bible actually matters?  “With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119: 10-11 “Honey, what does this mean? I don’t get it!” This basically sums up my Bible study time my first few years of marriage. I leaned on my husband for my biblical knowledge. That was until the day I quit. I don’t just mean that I quit something simple, I quit trying to read and understand God’s Word. It felt too …

Learning to Love

The word ‘love’ has been defined in so many ways. There is ‘first love,’ ‘puppy love,’ ‘true love,’ etc. The list goes on and on. Human love wears out, but God’s love lasts forever. For those of you who are married, or were married, know that love at first looks different from love 5 years later. Most couples will start arguing on their honeymoon night. This is actually the norm. Think about it; two people, possible complete opposite personalities, all of a sudden, living together and making decisions daily. Disagreement is normal. It’s ok to disagree. Love is a learning …

Paralyzed

When my husband was temporarily paralyzed from a stroke, I got paralyzed too – by fear. Although hubby’s paralysis left and it’s never recurred, my paralysis tries to come back on occasion. Can anyone relate? Oh beloved, fear is the ultimate “paralyzer”. It will grab you and keep you from moving forward. It will tie you to the bed of sorrow and cause you to remain immobile and unmovable. But our God is a forward God. His momentum is to compel us to live a forward facing, continually moving in the Spirit life. No one is ever meant to succumb …
