Lose That Treadmill

When Danny first got home from rehab he bought a treadmill. It helped tremendously with building back his stamina.  After he went back to work it just sat in our living room taking up space.  We’d been thinking about putting it on the swap shop and on Saturday morning we did just that. And within 30 minutes it was sold.  The coolest part was that a local pastor bought it to help with his recovery from health issues as well.  This treadmill will go fast, incline like you’re walking on a hill and measure your heart rate. But it won’t go anywhere and neither will the person who is walking on it.

Oh beloved, God is speaking this morning.  What kind of treadmill are you on?  Fear? Worry? Dread?  God wants you to know this morning that it’s time to get off the treadmills of life. You can’t get anywhere walking in fear, treading on worry or climbing the incline of dread.  Your days are blessed and your walk with the Lord is for freedom.  Time to move on. Time to live in the pure air of the Spirit and walk into joy, blessing and favor.  Times have been hard and God has been with you, both healing your heart and giving you a fresh start.  He always releases the captives and unchains the broken.  Things may look sketchy and your heart may be wildly beating even as you wake up this morning. But nothing you worry about or fear or dread ever builds spiritual stamina in your life.  You’ll stay winded and weak as long as you repeatedly allow those things to work in your life.

God wants you to know that you are already the magnificent specimen of spiritual life because greater is He who is in you!  Whatever battle you are fighting you cannot do it on your own.  Treadmill living won’t help you because it focuses on you. But when you focus on the Lord His truth brings up the mighty power within you – when you are weak He is strong. When the enemy comes in like a flood you are on the Rock.  You aren’t the sum of disasters – real or imagined – in your life. You are a mighty warrior for the Lord, with the belt of truth you can wear always.  It’s time to jump of the treadmill and walk into God’s plan for your life – focusing on Him, living by His Word and overcoming all obstacles in the strength and power He has given you!

God loves you and He’s for you.  As you focus on the Lord He will wrap you up in everything He is for you.  His love is passionate and strong and makes you strong as well.  Run to Him this morning and thank Him for releasing you from anything that binds you to the lies. And live in the truth that you are victorious through every situation and stronger than you can imagine, all because of Jesus and His wonderful gift of life to you!
