Our refrigerator is covered with messages, photos and magnetic notes. Oh and there are some pieces of artwork as well. I love those reminders. Each one holds a special place in our hearts. Notes that vow that we are the best at something, anything, warm our hearts. Grandchildren who pledge undying devotion, share their grades, show their artistic abilities. There’s even a note from a daughter and her family on there.
Oh beloved, are you keeping the good notes close at hand? When the world is tumbling you like you’re in a rock tumbler, are you able to remember that somebody loves you and has written good things about you? The rock tumbler will stop and you will be shiny and beautiful after it’s all over, but in the meantime – it’s rough isn’t it! A clean refrigerator probably looks lots better, but we need reminders. Reminders that we are good enough. These cues and prompts help us through the days.
God has given you a huge book of reminders. They tell you all about yourself. And it’s written in pure love. All of God’s words are His love language. Even the story of Jesus and what He went through for you is written in love. Even reminders of warnings. Just as a mom might leave a note on the fridge saying, “Don’t eat the cake”, “do the dishes”, “get your homework done” are imperatives, so too God has imperatives. Remember a mother who teaches and expects is a mother who loves. So too our God teaches and expects because He loves us. He found us and took us in just as we were. But He never leaves anyone there – He always teaches, reproves, corrects and blesses!
God loves you and He’s for you. Make a note and put it on your refrigerator. Find your Scripture that gives you peace, love and hope and stick it there prominently among the other goodies. And let your heart believe the Lord. He knows all about you and loves you just the same. He’s trustworthy because He says He is. And because He proves it over and over. Run to Him and let Him teach you how to live, whether you’re in a rock tumbler season or it’s your shining moment. And walk in the Light of His overwhelming never ending love!
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
Psalm 73:24 You guide me with Your counsel, and later receive me in glory.
Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you for your benefit, who directs you in the way you should go”
I John 4:9-10 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins
Psalm 86:15 But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
