Mary Magdalene

James Tissot

Mary Magdalene

John 20: 1-2 “Now early on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb, while still it was dark, and she saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance to the tomb.  So she ran to Peter and John saying to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where He is.”

Though Jesus had tried to reveal the truth that His time on earth would be temporary, evidently individuals could not fully understand and accept that truth. Mary was one of Jesus’ closest friends, and when she saw the empty tomb, she hurried to share the news with two other friends.

Many centuries later, thousands of people have not accepted the truth that Jesus arose from the tomb, ascended to heaven, is sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for you and me.

Prayer thought:

“Heavenly Father, as the Easter season approaches, help all believers be as Mary Magdalene, and share the good news that we serve a Risen Savior. We pray and thank You in Jesus name for that privilege. Amen.”
