“In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary…. And the angel said to her, ” You will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will call his name Jesus,” Luke 1: 26-27
Since Mary was a virgin, she did not understand how this could be, but she was submissive to God’s will for her life. Though it was a special blessing to be selected from all women for this privilege, it would include much heartache and misunderstanding. She was engaged to marry Joseph, and at that was very binding, so how would she explain to him and to her parents her being with child?
Prayer thought: Heavenly Father, give us the faith to trust You even when we do not understand. We praise and thank You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
