Definition of Mercy: not getting what you deserve


God’s mercy required a cross.

Do you need God’s mercy? “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3: 23

Why do you need God’s mercy?

“For the wages of sin is death, and the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6: 23

How did God show mercy?

“But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” Romans 5: 8

What is my part in God’s mercy?

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10: 9-10

Will God’s mercy work for me?

“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10: 13

How can I know God’s mercy worked for me?

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to Him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” Romans 8: 1-2
